The Great Heist Rules of Conduct
All players are expected to behave in a civilized manner at all times. Players who behave in an offensive and abusive manner will not be tolerated.
We also demand that all our players use common sense when playing this game. Simply because something isn't strictly forbidden in the game rules doesn't mean it's not frowned upon or even constitute grounds to be expelled from the game.
Also remember that this is a multiplayer game, intended for a mature audience, played by people of different ages, ethnicity, cultural and social backgrounds. Breaking the rules of the game is never okay, and role-playing is no excuse to behave badly, but we also expect all players to have a certain amount of tolerance toward each other, and the ability to simply ignore people that they don't enjoy playing with (please use the provided in game functionality for this).
Personal & Account Information
Do not give out your user name or password to another player under any circumstances. Not even if they claim to be a developer of the game. Before logging in, always make sure that you are on a legitimate game server, especially if you follow a link sent to you by someone. If you suspect someone has gotten hold of your account information please change your password immediately. If you are unable to access your account, please contact account support. Please note that we may not be able to restore lost items or other damages to accounts, so treat your account with care.
We recommend that you do not hand out personal information about yourself to other players in the game, as we can not assist in or take responsibility for anything that takes place outside of the The Great Heist game world.
Revealing personal information about other people without their consent is not accepted and in direct violation of the Rules of Conduct. Please consider everyone's safety and game experience.
General Conduct
There are different ways for people to abuse their freedom and options in the game. If we think that a player is following our rules, strictly speaking, but is bending those rules by disrupting or ruining the game experience for other players, we hold the right to temporarily ban or even expel said player from the game.
Your role playing style should never be built upon sensitive subjects such as real life politics, religious issues, discriminatory philosophies or criminal personas such as murderers etc. Always treat other players with the same respect and common sense as you would do in real life.
The following will not be tolerated:
- Personal attacks, cheating accusations, harassment or insults.
- Political, racial, sexual, religious and cultural discrimination. Debates about real life politics or religion do not belong in the game.
- Excessive use of swearing or profane language, and in particular if aimed at another character or player.
- Revealing personal information about other people without their consent. This includes publicly sharing private conversations you have had with other players.
- Impersonating another person, other than the characters on your account.
- Posting content or promoting activities that could be considered confidential, infringing, harmful, obscene, hateful, threatening, racist, explicit violence, pornographic or otherwise illegal.
- Copyright violation. Distribution or use of any content submitted by other players without consent of the original author. Do not publish song lyrics, poetry or any other form of copyrighted text that you didn't write yourself, without properly quoting them with their source.
- Publicly debating specific cases or attacking actions taken on them by our staff members.
- Multiple accounts (cloning) is not in the spirit of the game. If you register more than one account and gain an unfair advantage by means of farming, mass cloning, city invasions, or to engage in abusive and harassing behavior, your accounts will be subject to disciplinary action and/or blocked from accessing the game.
- Cheating and link manipulation. Any attempts to trick the system in order to gain an advantage in the game is considered cheating. Cheating and failure to report ways of cheating to the developers can cause you to be banned from the game. If you have evidence of any cheating methods, do not discuss it in the forums or post them on any other place than the bug report page.
- Upload or "hotlink" files that contain viruses, corrupted files or any other software or programs that may interfere with (or damage) the operation of the game or any other computer. This includes software with the purpose of harvesting data (illegal scripts), and hyperlinks designed to award you with bonuses or the like at another website or service.
- Spamming, bumping, cross-posting. All forms of repeated messaging with the purpose of spreading a single piece of information or request (for instance money, objects, votes during elections) to large amounts of people or a selected recipient.
