Welcome to The Great Heist

The Great Heist is an online role-playing game and community where the players strive for infamy and fortune in a world of crime and high-stakes heists.

You start the game as a simple thief with empty pockets. Join a crew of smooth criminals or work alone, the choice is yours. Play your cards right and you'll soon be traveling the world leaving a trail of empty bank vaults behind you. The long arm of the law will constantly try to foil your ingenious schemes so try to stick to the shadows or you'll end up in the slammer!

The game is played in real time and the game keeps on going even when you're not logged in. Success in the game is determined by careful strategy and good timing, not by constant online presence. It's perfectly possible to be successful in the game by logging in a couple of times a week to check up on things.

The Great Heist is free of charge and no downloads are necessary to play it. If you can read this you're good to go.

An important word of notice!
Server time8/6/2019

Yesterday, we took action against a large number of "clone reports". When we do so, we take time to convince ourselves that we do not punish innocent people.

We were at the same time reminded that a lot of you are sharing your login information with others. This is generally referred to as "baby sitting", and judging by our inboxes, most of you think that it's an ok behaviour. It isn't, never was, and it's even stated on the top of our Terms of Service:

You must take measures to protect your login information. Do not write it down, do not share it with others, make sure to log out when you are playing from Internet cafés or other public places etc. In other words: be smart and cautious.

Do not confuse this with sharing the same computer. That's ok. What isn't ok is to let somebody else access your account to help you out with something. Why? There are several reasons for this.

1. It gives you an unfair advantage over other players (if you don't agree, think about it once again).

2. It opens you up to losing your account or character progress, if your "friend" stops being your friend one day (this usually affects us as well, when you send us an e-mail asking for help).

If you'd do this once or twice, we'd probably never notice. We will notice, however, when you regularly log in on multiple accounts from the same devices. Other players will notice when you start doing suspicious things between two or more accounts, and report it to us.

A lot of those affected had an explanation to why they were caught. We would like everyone to know that by now, we've heard every possible explanation other than possibly "the dog ate my login details", and that there is no way we can use a picture of you and your sibling together as verification, or even call you to make sure that you are three cousins sharing the same computer. We can only go by the raw data, and the only thing you can do is to make sure that you follow the rules.

Thanks for listening, and stop sharing account details with each other! Really!
