Welcome to The Great Heist

The Great Heist is an online role-playing game and community where the players strive for infamy and fortune in a world of crime and high-stakes heists.

You start the game as a simple thief with empty pockets. Join a crew of smooth criminals or work alone, the choice is yours. Play your cards right and you'll soon be traveling the world leaving a trail of empty bank vaults behind you. The long arm of the law will constantly try to foil your ingenious schemes so try to stick to the shadows or you'll end up in the slammer!

The game is played in real time and the game keeps on going even when you're not logged in. Success in the game is determined by careful strategy and good timing, not by constant online presence. It's perfectly possible to be successful in the game by logging in a couple of times a week to check up on things.

The Great Heist is free of charge and no downloads are necessary to play it. If you can read this you're good to go.

Chat up!
Server time5/6/2020

We know you've wanted multi character chats for a long time. So have we, and now's the time: we've just released the first version of the in-game chat system.

Everyone can create one (yes, 1. For now!) chat and invite up to 9 other players. You also have access to an artist/crew chat, restricted to the artist members. VIP players can create one additional chat, for which the content is stored in the database for the foreseeable future.

Please note that we're releasing this as a "beta". This means that, although it's been in test for a while, it may still have some bugs in it. It also means that things may change. We might even be forced to take it down, if the servers can't manage the load. The beta flag will be removed once we feel that we've found out how much the server can handle.

Before you submit any bugs, please make sure to read the "Help & Known Issues" section.

No, that wasn't the end

We had some unexpected downtime Yesterday, for roughly two hours. Unfortunately, our third party detection service didn't notify us in time to fix it immediately. Sorry about that!

Only the user interface was affected. All the game engines were still running as they should in the background, so your scheduled events were not harmed.

Contrary to popular belief, we still have no intentions of shutting down any games. We're here working pretty much as usual, while we try to figure out how to steer this ship into the future. In the meantime, try to be excellent to each other!
