Welcome to The Great Heist

The Great Heist is an online role-playing game and community where the players strive for infamy and fortune in a world of crime and high-stakes heists.

You start the game as a simple thief with empty pockets. Join a crew of smooth criminals or work alone, the choice is yours. Play your cards right and you'll soon be traveling the world leaving a trail of empty bank vaults behind you. The long arm of the law will constantly try to foil your ingenious schemes so try to stick to the shadows or you'll end up in the slammer!

The game is played in real time and the game keeps on going even when you're not logged in. Success in the game is determined by careful strategy and good timing, not by constant online presence. It's perfectly possible to be successful in the game by logging in a couple of times a week to check up on things.

The Great Heist is free of charge and no downloads are necessary to play it. If you can read this you're good to go.

If we could Turn Back Time on Turn Back Time...
Server time12/21/2018

We've removed the Turn Back Time card from the card pool when you draw new cards and made Roundabout Rounds more common instead. Turn Back Time was the very first card we designed when we begun work on the Great Heist and we no longer feel it has a suitable place in the game. Not only is it a tricky card to deal with when it comes to the technical aspects and scoring of heists but it also throws the gauntlet challenge off balance.

If you're holding on to any Turn Back Time cards please make use of them as soon as possible since we're going to convert all remaining cards of this type into Roundabout Rounds in the beginning of February.

This Week in Real Life #19
Server time12/20/2018

This week we tweaked the way we score your performances in major competitions such as the Big Bang and the Popmundo Festival. The goal of the tweak isn't to alter any tactics or to increase or lower the show ratings. The goal of the change is to make the outcome of these important shows more predictable in the eyes of the players. We promise you won't notice anything different so you can climb back up on your chair now, but for the sake of transparency we're still telling you about it.

New Card & Category
Server time12/18/2018

We've added a new category of cards to the game for "strategic" cards. The first card to go into this category is the new card Simmer Down which is a product of this year's Wishing Well. In this new category we've also placed everyone's favorite card Smoke & Mirrors which was incorrectly categorized as a barrier breach up until today.

If you're interested in knowing more about the Simmer Down card please check out your personal deck. We've given everyone a free sample. Enjoy!
