Beneath the Mask I Wear
By Hades - King of Hell, frontman, eternal overthinker
1212 days. That’s how long I’ve been wearing this mask.
Not the stage one - that’s just leather, sweat, and bad decisions.
I mean the other one. The one that smiles through soundchecks, jokes through burnout, and pretends the fire’s always just part of the show.
Funny thing, being the King of Hell - everyone assumes you
are the mask. That the noise, the chaos, the smoke, that’s all there is.
But even down here, where the flames never die and the Wi-Fi still sucks, masks start to itch.
Sometimes I forget who I am under it.
Sometimes I lift it - just a little - and realize the beast underneath is still learning how to breathe.
P.S. Don’t worry, the mask’s back on for the next gig. Stage lights don’t forgive vulnerability… but they do look damn good reflecting off the horns.
