if his dad knew anything about Yvan, he'd know that his second-eldest was not going to stay home when he knew that Lucas was in danger. he'd gone back to where they had met up before, following the footsteps of the other boy. of course, it didn't really mean much by that point. it had been hours since Lucas had disappeared. there was no trace of him in that area.

people who knew how to kidnap others wouldn't leave even the smallest piece of evidence.

what worried Yvan even more was how much of a ransom they'd ask for and if it would be directed towards Hoshi or his dad - and what if they refused? would they start sending pieces of Lucas back - one by one? fingers? teeth? more? a wave of nausea rolled through his stomach and he felt queasy.

the part that hurt the worst was not knowing how he could help in any way. he knew he wasn't going to be able to find Lucas on his own, but all of his instincts told him that he needed to try or else he was a waste of breath. he needed to make sure that there was something to do.

Hoshi was never going to forgive him, he knew that, and he was sure that his dad would look at him differently, as well. he wasn't the reason why Lucas had gotten taken, sure, but Yvan knew he was partially to blame. but was there any way for him to fix it?

how could Yvan have fucked things up this much? could he ever do anything right?
