Beryl no sabía cómo sentirse.

Beryl didn’t know how to feel. She had lost, and the feeling of failure flooded every fiber of her body, as if it were the only thing she could focus on. She felt ashamed, disappointed in herself. She knew she had broken records, that one loss didn’t erase all the achievements she had accumulated throughout her career, nor the years of effort and sweat that had brought her this far. Still, she had always known that at some point, her winning streak would come to an end and she would have to face defeat. But it burned—deeply. She could feel the anger she had worked so hard to drown in the ring, punch after punch, rising to the surface again, and that frightened her. She didn’t want to become that angry teenager she once was.
And yet, she knew she had the unconditional love of her husband, her children, her people. And that didn’t depend on winning or losing a fight.
