After six hours behind the wheel from London to Shanghai, she finally arrived. Still seated in her car, she stared out at the gentle drizzle misting the windshield. The city lights of Pudong shimmered through the rain.
Before she even stepped from the driver’s seat, she paused and glanced over her shoulder at the back seat piled with four birthday gifts from her husband and her baby boy, each wrapped up with sweet labels and tucked alongside a handwritten card, made her not want to unwrap the gifts, actually, She already knew what was inside the box, something she had really wanted
A slow smile curved her lips as she glanced once more at the birthday gifts, her heart fluttering. She slipped out of the car before the sweetness completely melted her, even though it was still freezing outside.
