Sorry..

The night air feels heavy. The lights around you seem colder, and the silence that settles before the words is almost unbearable. You take a deep breath — the kind meant to hold back the tremor in your voice — and face every expression before you.

The looks are different: some steady, some confused, others avoiding your gaze, as if unsure whether to listen or to walk away. Even so, you speak.

“I need to say this... I’m sorry.”

The words come out small, yet they echo powerfully through the space. For a moment, everything seems to stop — time, the noise around you, even the sound of your own breathing.

You go on, trying to keep your tone calm:

“I know I failed. I hurt people. I pushed away those who didn’t deserve it. Sometimes out of pride, sometimes out of fear. And none of that excuses what I did. I was just… trying to deal with more than I could handle, and I ended up hurting the ones who only wanted to stay by my side.”

Your chest tightens, your voice wavers, but there’s no turning back now. Each sentence feels like a wound reopening just so it can heal properly.

“I don’t expect you to trust me again overnight. Or for things to go back to how they used to be. I just want you to know that I recognize every mistake I made, and that I’m trying to become someone better than I was.”

A heavy silence falls again. You feel the heat rising to your face, your heart pounding fast. It’s strange — exposing yourself like this, without defenses, without masks.

But at the same time, there’s something freeing about it.
The weight you’ve carried for so long slowly begins to dissolve.

You lower your head and finish, quieter this time, almost in a whisper:

“I’m sorry… truly.”

For a moment, no one speaks. But the air changes — something invisible shifts. It may not be forgiveness yet, but it’s a beginning.

And for the first time in a long while, you feel like you can breathe again.
