Special Lyrics

The thick mist made it impossible to spot Glasgow from the plane.
The usual sight of glimmering street-lights had vanished in the billowing fog.
When pointing it out to Owen as we descended he watched in awe.
As I looked over his shoulder I got a strange feeling of being observed.
Part from Gottbo we were alone, and I turned my head back to the window.
With the plane firmly on the ground I peered out and saw something moving.
Was there someone on the wing or was the fog playing tricks on my eyes?

On our way to the hotel, the fog had suddenly subsided.
Owen, as usual, hit the playgrounds accompanied by his nanny.
Still troubled by the mysterious fog, I went on stage that night, but felt edgy.
I felt bad leaving Owen in Glasgow when heading for Norway that night.
He had his nanny, but the strange fog reminded me of recent bizarre events.
Telling my self not to let my imagination get the better of me I left town.

A few days later arriving London, the nightmares began.
Horrible creatures chanting in ancient tongue, surrounding a child.
I woke up in a puddle of sweat as the phone rang.
A hysterical woman was screaming incoherently in my ear.
After a few minutes my heart sank as I realized that it was Owens nanny.
Between sobs she told me that robed men came and seized Owen.
It felt as the walls were caving in on me, and I could barely breathe.

With the speed of light I had hired the best private eye that money could buy.
His organization worked swiftly and soon had a lead on my boy.
Minutes felt like months and I could but wait and hope for progress.
Gottbo said that the show must go on, if not to at least to clear my head a bit.
Of course my performance was abysmal and I couldn’t focus on our show.
On the bus to Paris my phone rung and I answered with trembling arms;
“Dad... I’m ok”. I started to sob and laugh at the same time.

The private eye explained that he would fly Owen to me at once.
He said this was the strangest thing he ever encountered during his career.
I told him I didn’t care about the circumstances; all I wanted was Owen.
When we finally met I hugged my little boy until my arms began to hurt.
The private eye explained that all abductors, but one, escaped.
“He used guttural sounds rather than words, and could not be interrogated,
saying -Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn- over and over”

I didn’t know why I recognized those words, but I knew they were significant.
For some reason I’m caught up in something unnatural and sinister.
I fail to see the reasons yet, but it feels like everything will be revealed.
Sooner or later…
