I hate(d) being wrong…

It’s been a week since our family of three became a family of five.

Skye has been the love of our lives, our everything, our star shining brighter than any other. Now she has two new little stars right by her side, shining just as bright, and adorning the picture in a way that makes it perfect.

Funny word, “perfect”.

I always thought it was a word created just to exaggerate things. Nothing was perfect, it couldn’t be, the concept was so foreign to me that I couldn’t even fathom something or someone being the embodiment of the word.

Enter Audrey.

My life did a 180° and, before I realized what the hell was going on, I was madly in love with this perfect woman. There was no turning back, she ruined me, and she knew it.

Then came Skye.

We had so much more love to give, that the universe brought us together. She was dreamed of, wanted, and she came into our lives disrupting everything in the best of ways. Our perfect robot-dinosaur-race car-dance-music lover.

It was on her birthday, hearing her squeal in delight as one of her aunties played with her, that we felt the pull again. The decision was made right there on the spot. Our math was very specific at the time, but the math didn’t math in the end.

The twins came in their own very different, perfectly chaotic way.

It was clear Ash cut his sister in line to be out first, kicking and screaming, making himself known. Alex came out quiet and grumpy, already annoyed with her brother’s unacceptable behavior. That’s why she waited a little while longer, just so she wouldn’t have to share a birthday with him.

I will never again doubt the reason for the word “perfect” to be needed in our vocabulary. I was very wrong, and I’m glad these four people showed me that.

Oh, and here’s Ash. Skye finally let him go, if only to hold Alex instead. I think the fact that he started screaming influenced her decision.
